Week 70: Trundling On

So, teaching English here is a really important aspect of the work because it is a good way to find investigators, and also allows us to get work visas into the country. Usually we teach at the church, but we're 40 minutes away from the church. So my companionship has been looking for a place up in our area to teach. After 3 months, we finally have one. It's required a lot of renovation, so we did a lot of that this week.

Some time ago, I talked about in investigator named Sister Nong. She seemed really good, but kept leaving the city for business and then had her Buddhist mother living at her house, so we couldn't teach her. When we called her last week, she told us that she's very interested, but can't meet with us anymore because her mom wouldn't let her change religions. We asked to meet with her one last time, which she consented. We taught the Plan of Salvation to help her understand what was at stake. It was a really good lesson with great member support, and in the end, she committed to be baptized (though not on a specific date), and to keep learning. In the closing prayer, she told God that she wasn't sure if He was there, but that she felt like she got an answer today.

Chaad's family dodged us a few different times this week. We haven't given up on them, but it's coming to the time where they either surge forward or sink away. We'll give it our best and see what happens.

An RM who served here moved back to Thailand and was called as the Elder's Quorum President. He's started to get home teaching moving, which is awesome. That'll be so good here (I've never served in an area that did home teaching).

I came across a neat quote in studies recently: "“It is the privilege of the children of God to come to God and get revelation.” -Joseph Smith. I was struck but what a neat promise that is, and would also like to bear witness of that principle. We all face a lot of problems in life, but it is my testimony that as we ask God for His guidance, we can receive it.
